Welcome to the Ararat Ruritan Club's web site.
The Ararat Ruritan club was chartered on January 9, 1953, with 29 original members. The Ararat Ruritan club is part of Ruritan National, which has nearly 33,000 members though out the U.S. that works to improve more than 1,200 local communities.
The objectives of Ruritan as stated in the Ruritan National Constitution are as follows: � To promote fellowship and goodwill among its members and citizens of the community, and to inspire each other to higher efforts. � To unify the efforts of individuals, organizations and institutions in the community toward making it an ideal place in which to live. � To work with those agencies that serves the community and contributes directly to its progress. � To encourage and foster the ideal of Service as the basis of all worthy enterprise. � To create greater understanding between rural and urban people on the problems of each, as well as on their mutual problems.
�Fellowship, Goodwill, and Community Service� is the slogan of Ruritan. The word Ruritan is a combination of the Latin words for open country �ruri� and small town �tan� interpreted as pertaining to rural and small town life.
